The Valley Mirror

"An Hour A Day" collection of hymns certain to inspire
enjoyment among music lovers

By Earl Wittpen, Valley Mirror Editor

"An Hour A Day" a multi-cultural collection of inspirational hymns and songs by the Celestial Lite Orchestra is a production by Vito DiSalvo and Evan Broman, both instructors in the music department in the West Mifflin Area School District.

A disc of the unique work is available through the Mifflin Hills Music Company and it's one every music lover will cherish.

Laudatory reviews of this beautiful, 60-minute presentation, are being received from the Music Company from everyone who has been privileged to hear it. Among those applauding the work are Most Rev. Thomas Daily, Bishop of Brooklyn, New York; Rev. Stephen Honeygosky of St. Bruno's Church in Greensburg; F. Jackson, a supreme director of the Knights of Columbus in Tallahoma, Tennessee; Fr. Richard P. Scherer of Miami, Florida; Fr. Peter Horton of the Pittsburgh Catholic; and Rev. George J. Wright, pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elyria, Ohio.

The accolades are not surprising and listeners will readily agree the collection of hymns and songs is one of refreshing arrangements of standard and favorite hymns that include: Let There Be Peace On Earth, The Old Rugged Cross, Wind Beneath My Wings, What A Friend We Have In Jesus, Somewhere In Time, Faith Of Our Fathers, How Great Thou Art, God Is Our Refuge And Our Strength, Just A Closer Walk With Thee, Abide With Me, Nearer My God To Thee, On Eagle's Wings, Rock Of Ages, Fairest Lord Jesus, Stabat Mater, Panis Angelicus, O Sanctissima, Hail Holy Queen, Enthron'd Above, Amazing Grace, Adoration and The Lord's Prayer.

Fr. Horton, who is well known in the Steel Valley, said of the disc, "This new recording with its artistry and style is sure to please many listeners." Pastor Wright of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elyria, similarly applauded the collection when he said , "It is quite obvious that the music and musicianship reflect a good deal of faith and personal devotion, as well as high technical skill and ability. I can well envision using the tape for personal enjoyment and enrichment and also in certain pastoral or counseling situations when such a combination of peace and beauty and faith is needed."

Vito DiSalvo is the executive producer of "An Hour A Day". His background includes involvement in concert bands, symphonic orchestras, jazz bands, electronic music and commercial music. He is an accomplished accordionist, pianist, and keyboardist. He is a graduate of Duquesne University and the University of Miami receiving bachelor and master's degrees respectively.

For those who are interested, the release is available at National Record Marts, Oasis and Waves stores, Kirner's Catholic Book Store and Gospel Book and Music Center in Butler. Or they may be ordered by calling MHM Productions LLC, at 1-800-377-4838.
